Helpful Hints for Computer Tools for Engineers
This page contains helpful hints for the assignments for
Computer Tools for Engineers.
Hints for assignment #5: Here some hints:
- #11 (chapter 4) - Just be systematic and careful.
- #14 (chapter 4) - You will need some variables to keep track of
which value is the minimum and which the maximum. Think carefully on how you
should initialize these variables.
- #4 (chapter 6) - This one is easy. Implement the formulas in
functions.
- #11 (chapter 6) - See #10. We have studied factorial
implementations in class.
- #1 (chapter 7) - No hint needed.
- #2 (chapter 7) - Ho hint needed.
Hints for assignment #4: Here some hints:
- #3 (chapter 3) - First, recall how to compare real numbers (see
page 136). Second, recall the standard formula for a line...
y = m*x + b where m is the slope of the line. Perpendicular
lines will have reciprocal slopes of opposite sign.
- #4 (chapter 3) - First, recall how to compare real numbers (see
page 136). Second, think about slopes of pairs of points.
- #9 (chapter 3) - You will probably need to use some logical
variables.
- #1 (chapter 4) - Very easy... output is a table. Don't forget table
labels (e.g., in the header of the table).
- #2 (chapter 4) - Understand what is needed, and what is not. Watch
those unit conversions!
- #5 (chapter 4) - Think back to the Fibonacci number problem in the
Mathcad assignment (assignment #1).
