December 9, 2018 - Final grades have now been posted to OASIS (I am not sure when they will appear, but it should be very soon). The final grades are distributed as follows, A 31%, B 37%, C 26%, D and below 6%.

November 27, 2018 - The final exam will be held on Thursday, December 6th at 12:30pm in EDU 347 (our classroom). The instructions as they will appear on the exam as are follows:

November 26, 2018 - Project check-out with TA has been extended to 8pm on Wednesday. This extended time has been added to the sign-up sheet on my office door. This extension will give an equal number of slots for all three days of check-out. Wednesday is the 100% day and is the last day for check-out and project submission.

November 21, 2018 - If browsing to a non-existent webserver the response will not be a 404 error, it will rather be a connection failed. The test script is now clarified to show this. Get it here.

November 20, 2018 - Step #3 of the test script has been fixed to correct an obvious error.. the updated test script (with document history describing the fix) is here.

November 20, 2018 - The current verison of weblite.c generates only two response content types - image and text. Both of these types are displayed by the browser. To force a content type that would be downloaded by the browser (which you need for step #3 of the project test script), I have added a new content type. If you try to access a file of type ".bin", this file will be downloaded. The new version of weblite is weblite1.c.

November 17, 2018 - The final test script for the project is here. Please note that test #5 requires a change to your source code (notably, to output packet payloads to the console in a verbose mode).

November 16, 2018 - As discussed in class on Thursday, the expectation is that each pair of students will bring two laptops for their project demo. If this is not feasible for you and you need us to provide a second machine, then please email me by Monday 8am to tell me what you need.

November 15, 2018 - The grading script for project is available here. This is still in draft form open for student comments. The final version will be posted over the weekend. Sign-up sheets for a 20 minute check-out slot will be posted on my office door (after being circulated in class today).

November 15, 2018 - Student evaluation of the course is now possible... see here.

October 12, 2018 - The mid-term exam will be held on Thursday, October 18th in class. We will discuss what the exam will cover and have a review of key topics before the exam. The instructions as they will appear on the exam as are follows:

September 24, 2018 - On Monday I have a UG Council meeting 3pm to 5pm and on Wednesday I have a Faculty Senate meeting also 3pm to 5pm. Please email me if you wish to meet with me earlier in the day on Monday and Wednesday. Otherwise, I will be back in my office at about 5:15pm on Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday 4pm to 5pm I expect to be in my office.

September 18, 2018 - Two sample resumes you may wish to review before preparing your resume for the USF Career Fair are here and here.

September 12, 2018 - "Take 2" of the HTTP 1.0 versus 1.1 RTT handout is here.

September 9, 2018 - I will be late to my office hours tomorrow (Monday, September 10th). I have a UG Council meeting at 3pm in MSC. I should be on the top (or near the top) of the agenda, this putting me back in my office around 4:15pm-ish (I hope). I will be in my office for full office hours on Wednesday.

September 2, 2018 - Last week we dicussed the design goals of the Internet. This material came from David Clark, "The Design Philosophy of the DARPA Internet Protocols," ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communications Review, Vol. 18, No. 4, August 1988, pp. 106-114. The paper can be found here.

August 20, 2018 - Some of the content on this website is password protected. The account id and password will be given to all students on the first day of class.
