Sockets programming

• Microsoft Winsock Reference - The reference for Winsock. Click on "functions" to see documentation on Winsock functions. There is far more detail here than you really need.
• Beej's Guide to Network Programming - A excellent sockets programming guide.
• TCP/IP Sockets in C by Donahoo and Calvert - Probably the best handbook on sockets programming. I highly recommend this book as an addition to your personal library.
• I mostly use the cl command line compiler to build my programs for Windows. If you want to use the Microsoft Visual IDE for sockets programming, see here for helpful instructions. The point here is that you are to build a console application and include wsock32.dll in the Project Settings / Object-library modules list.
