Program Objectives

We have program educational objectives for our Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs. Program educational objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve. These objectives describe the expected accomplishments of our graduates during the several years following graduation.

Our Computer Science program objectives are:

Objective 1: Our computer science graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their career and/or obtain an advanced degree.

Objective 2: Our graduates will function ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in our profession and our society.

Objective 3: Our graduates will successfully function in multi-disciplinary teams.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply basic principles and practices of computing grounded in mathematics and science to successfully complete software related projects to meet customer business objectives and/or productively engage in research.

Our Computer Engineering program objectives are:

Objective 1: Our computer engineering graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their career and/or obtain an advanced degree.

Objective 2: Our graduates will function ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in our profession and our society.

Objective 3: Our graduates will successfully function in multi-disciplinary teams.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply basic principles and practices of computing grounded in mathematics and science to successfully complete hardware and/or software related engineering projects to meet customer business objectives and/or productively engage in research.

Our program objectives were revised in Fall 2006, Spring 2007, Spring 2011, and Spring 2012 with input from constituents (Tampa Bay area employers, department faculty, and department advisory board members).
