RESEARCH AREAS

As a department we are dedicated to the pursuit of scholarly excellence in both research and teaching, as well as an ethical and compassionate academic environment in which to sustain it. CSE faculty members have won many national and international acclaims for their research and leadership. Our faculty typically receives significant research funding from Federal, State and Private sources. We consider public service a high priority, and we strive to reach beyond academe to touch the outside community at the regional, state, and national levels. To this end, we encourage university/industry and university/community cooperation. We advocate the pursuit of lifelong learning for our faculty, staff, students, and the community-at-large.

Our outstanding faculty includes a number of IEEE Fellows, IAPR Fellows, an ACM fellow, several NSF CAREER award winners, and several Distinguished University Professors on our faculty.

Major funding sources include the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Army, Office of Naval Research, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Advanced Research and Development Activity (now IARPA), and The Whitaker Foundation.
