Dr. Wilfrido A. Moreno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida and director for the Ibero American Science and Technology Educational Consortium at USF, (USF-ISTEC). In the area of research,

Dr. Moreno is a founding member of the Center for Microelectronics Research, (CMR), where he serves as the supervisor for the System Integration and Laser Processing Laboratory. Dr. Moreno’s current research interest is oriented towards system integration by providing “off-the-shelf” hardware/software solutions to industrial application in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Communications, Industrial Controls, Microelectronics, Biomedical Engineering and Multimedia Solutions including Voice and Video over IP applied to Distance Learning Solutions. Since becoming an assistant professor, in the fall of 1994, Dr. Moreno has been successful in obtaining funding from local industries and federal agencies that have supported over seventy masters students and ten doctoral students.

Over fifty MS level students and five Ph.D. students have obtained their degrees under his supervision. Additionally, three research laboratories have been established with state-of-the-art equipment and software tools in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Rapid System Prototyping and within the last year a Wireless Sensor Networks laboratory. Dr. Moreno has published over eighty technical papers and has participated in several International conferences and seminars around the World.
