Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Florida! If you are a prospective student, we have up-to-date information available on our website. The jobs outlook for graduates from our undergraduate and graduate programs is very encouraging. The Wall Street Journal ranks Software Engineer and Computer Systems Analyst as the number 2 and 3 best jobs for 2010.
Our dedicated faculty provide an excellent set of courses combined with individual attention to make the learning experience a great one. We have an excellent wireless network available, modern and useful computer labs and a great staff to help you have a great experience in CSE at USF. We offer undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems. We offer Masters degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. We offer the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. There is an accelerated program in which you can get your Bachelors and Masters degree in five years. For undergraduates, we offer a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, as well as the opportunity to do meaningful senior projects in conjunction with local industry. We have Teaching and Research Assistantships available for Masters and Ph.D. students that include a stipend and tuition waiver. Our faculty are caring as well as renowned for their scholarship. We have a number of IEEE Fellows, IAPR Fellows, an ACM fellow, several NSF career award winners, and several Distinguished University Professors on our faculty. The faculty does outstanding research in Computer Vision/Pattern Recognition, Biometrics, Computer Security, Distributed computing, VLSI design including low-power chips, Networks, Computer Graphics, Robotics, Databases, AI/Data Mining, Bioinformatics and more! The research leads to interesting electives for undergraduates and stimulating courses and areas of research for graduate students. We are located in the beautiful Tampa Bay area which has several of the top ranked beaches in the world, a mild sunny climate, and many opportunities for recreation as well as cultural activities.
